The Headlands School Home Learning policy gives an overview of the different types of home learning that we will provide in the scenarios possible under the current Covid-19 guidance.

A letter was sent to parents and carers in October 2020 with details of the Home-School Agreement, which is designed to make sure students, parents and carers and staff are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities, and outlines what students, teachers and parents/carers should do when engaging in remote, face-to-face, online-learning.

Pupils have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds are among those hardest hit. We have the professional knowledge and expertise to ensure that our pupils get back on track.

The government has announced a £650 million catch-up premium for 2020 to 2021 at the rate of £80 for each pupil from Year 7 to Year 11 to enable schools to gain support to help all pupils catch up for lost teaching time. School leaders will assess the effect of the money spent on the educational attainment of those pupils by monitoring academic progress and emotional support.

As well as using the weekly newsletter to keep parents and carers updated with information about arrangements regarding Covid-19, Headlands School has sent letters out by email.

Headlands School is committed to ensuring the highest possible standard of safeguarding. The personal safety and wellbeing of each student and all teaching staff using any form of virtual teaching is paramount.

The Virtual School Safeguarding Protocols have been produced in response to the increased use of online / virtual teaching methods.

National Online Safety has produced a list of top 10 tips to help students and parents during Home Learning.

We hope that people will find some of the advice helpful (although we are not asking students to wear uniform at home at the moment).
