At Headlands Sixth Form, we aim for students to cultivate positive habits and routines as integral aspects of Sixth Form life.
All students will adhere to a structured timetable and are required to attend all scheduled lessons, including Form Period, Supported Study sessions, and all enrichment & PSHE. During non-lesson periods, students will be assigned supported study sessions focused on utilising approved revision techniques effectively.
As students progress from Year 12 to Year 13, they will receive support for UCAS/Apprenticeship applications and relevant work experience opportunities.
Exceptional attendance and attitude are imperative for achieving success. These are fundamental expectations for all Sixth Form members.
- We place students’ happiness at the centre of all our work
- We are a cohesive, stable & supportive staff body who put a student’s individual needs at the heart of all we do both in and outside the classroom
- We believe in ensuring that our students leave us as well rounded young adults
- We offer a range of experiences both within and outside of school to shape & broaden students horizons
- We look to instil a strong work ethic and focus on academic rigour, whilst maintaining happiness as a priority.
- We aspire for all of our students to BELIEVE THEY CAN ACHIEVE
Quality Teaching & Learning
-
Clear, relentless focus on Teaching & Learning being our “Core Business”
- Teaching team work hard, and “smart,” to refine our teaching practices, invest in professional development, and foster a culture of high expectations and excellence for all
- Ofsted said that the Quality of Teaching & Learning is good or better across the sixth form.
- Stable teaching team. This is hugely significant when locally, regionally & nationally, there is huge turbulence with schools struggling to retain and indeed recruit quality teachers.
