Emergency childcare for critical workers and provision for vulnerable children and those with EHCP’s will be in the school’s Learning Resource Centre from Monday 4 May 2020.
A polite reminder the childcare provision is for emergencies only for the children of critical workers. Before agreeing to a place, the school needs to establish why this emergency childcare is required. We appreciate we are all working and living in very difficult circumstances and as such we do need to ask difficult questions. In particular please be aware we do need to ask what other avenues you have looked into and why they are not suitable.
As fellow critical workers and parents, we do understand the conflicting pressures you may face.  However the Government guidance is really clear – schools should only be asked to provide “emergency childcare” for children of critical workers if it is indeed a “real” emergency.  To offer children a place we hope you can appreciate we need to be able to assess the risk to children to remain in your home versus the risk to others with them coming into social contact with people outside the family home in respect of CV-19. Provision for vulnerable children and children with EHCPs are by arrangement only with School Leaders so that my team and I can continue to monitor the staff:student ratios and be able to adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rule. Finally, despite this move of location – Headlands School remains closed to visitors.     Following Denmark’s lead, please do not just “turn-up” at the schools Main Reception asking to speak to staff.  I am sure you wouldn’t – but just in case!
Stay home.  Protect the NHS.  Save lives.
