Headlands School is a local authority maintained secondary school that includes a vibrant Sixth Form and is set in the wonderful coastal town of Bridlington, in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

At Headlands School we are interested in the development of the whole person, as well as the examination candidate. We actively encourage our students to open their minds, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the opportunities available to them.

I am proud to state that Headlands School is absolutely thriving and prides itself on producing well-rounded, articulate and very well-educated young men and women. Professional, enthusiastic and supportive teachers champion a culture of creativity in all areas of the curriculum, nurturing inventive, fearless thinkers and equipping young people with the skills and the character to flourish in the fast-evolving adult world of the 21st century.

All students enjoy access to high quality facilities and staff input at all levels, in or out of the classroom, with a view to enabling and encouraging each student to be the best that they can be in every context.

We have a great record in stretching our able students and we know that the bright child will do as well here as they will anywhere else. A significant proportion our school leavers go on to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. All students are assured of the highest professional quality of provision and highly individualised care in all areas of school life, whatever their strengths or interests.

Headlands School is, at its core, a deeply pastoral school. Our boys and girls are happy here, and I believe we have some exciting years ahead. When I first joined Headlands School in June 2013 I was immediately struck by the energy and vitality of the students, and also by the warm, calm but purposeful feel that permeated the whole community. Headlands School students leave here with a strong sense of self and a keen awareness of – and sensitivity to – the world around them. The adult world that they will be entering will be a very different one from a generation ago, and we want our students to leave here excited, rather than daunted, by the challenges that it will hold.

I hope you find this website informative and helpful, and that it gives you a flavour of what Headlands School has to offer. If you are not familiar with Headlands School there is, of course, no substitute for a personal visit and I strongly encourage you to come to see us.

This could be either on one of our open days or by private appointment, and I invite you to study the admissions area of the website for further detail. It is only through such a visit that you can fully appreciate the purposeful, energetic and happy atmosphere here. I can assure you of a warm welcome, and am confident that you will be impressed.
